Born in Australia in 1981 and brought up on the West Coast of Scotland, Kathryn was interested in art from an early age. She chose to study within the Glass Department at Edinburgh College of Art where she was privileged to have the influential Glass Artist Ray Flavell as her tutor. She graduated with honours in 2003, gaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Glass and Architectural Glass.
In the year following, Kathryn gained further experience as a glassmaker working for The World of Glass in St. Helens, where she worked as part of a team providing daily public demonstrations in glassblowing, as well as making the company ranges and working on commissions. In early 2004, she realised her ambition to have her own studio, and set up on the edge of the Lake District in Cumbria, where she now concentrates on making her own unique designs.
Her work comprises a collection of contemporary blown glass inspired by colour and light. Alongside her functional glassware ranges she produces gifts, awards, sculptural pieces, installations and architectural glass panels. Kathryn is happy to discuss private or public commissions at any time.
